Ⅴ. Race Distances and Categories X-Triathlon is short for Extreme-Triathlon.1. Race Distances
Detailed information about the race venue and route will be announced on the CTSA (China Triathlon Sports Association) member information system, the official website of Weihai Sports Bureau (http://tyj.weihai.gov.cn/), and the official WeChat account of Weihai Sports (whtyxx). 2. Group Settings and Eligibility Requirements
(1) Athletes’ ages are calculated based on their age as of December 31 of the year in which the competition takes place. (2) In all categories, if the number of registered athletes is less than 3 (including 3), the category will not be held. athletes registered in that category will be adjusted to the adjacent category. The specific adjustment information will be based on the official published start list. (3) Relay team competition rules: Each team consists of 3 athletes, with no gender restrictions. Each athlete must complete one of the three disciplines: swim, bike, or run; After completing their respective discipline, each athlete must pass the timing loop in the designated area to complete the relay; The overall team performance is measured based on the total time taken by the last athlete to cross the finish line. Ⅵ. Eligibility 1. General Information (1) Each individual can only register for one competition category. (2) According to the Triathlon competition rules, all participating athletes must have accident and emergency medical insurance coverage during the competition period. In the event of an accident or injury, the participating athletes are responsible for the related medical and emergency expenses. The personal insurance of the athlete must meet the following minimum requirements in order to participate: The insurance coverage should include at least one to two days before the race (based on the arrival time at the race venue), the race day, and one day after the race. The insurance coverage should include but not be limited to accidental death and disability, sudden illness (including sudden death and heat stroke) death and disability, accidental injury medical expenses, and sudden illness medical expenses. The insurance coverage for accidental death and disability, and sudden illness death and disability should be no less than CNY 500,000. The insurance coverage for accidental injury medical expenses and sudden illness medical expenses should be no less than CNY 30,000. For special groups (children, the elderly), the coverage limits for accidental death and disability, and sudden illness death and disability should comply with the relevant laws and regulations of the China Banking and Insurance Regulatory Commission (CBIRC). (3) All participating athletes are required to undergo pre-race physical examinations and monitoring according to the “Guidance on Pre-Race Physical Examinations for Participating Athletes in the Chinese Triathlon Sports Association” (Attachment 2). This is to ensure that athletes are in good physical condition and can adapt to the Triathlon competition environment. The examination items and results must comply with the “Guidance on Pre-Race Physical Examinations for Participating Athletes in the Chinese Triathlon Sports Association”. Athletes who do not meet the requirements of the physical examination are not allowed to participate in the race. Athletes are highly responsible for their own health and personal safety. The physical examination items and results serve as a reference for the organizing committee and do not guarantee that athletes are fully qualified to complete the race. Individuals who have had pulmonary, cardiovascular, or cerebrovascular viral infections within 6 months prior to the race are not recommended to participate. (4) For some athletes who have been regularly participating in Triathlon and have good physical conditions, the Weihai Major Sport Events Organizing Committee may grant special approval to relax the age restrictions. However, these athletes are required to complete the “Guardian Declaration for Minor Athletes” or the “Declaration for Athletes’ Spouse/Children aged 70 and above” (Attachment 3). They must also submit the Body Check Report (with the standards outlined in Attachment 2) and provide their previous experience participating in Triathlon races. All documents should be submitted to the designated registration contact person for review and approval before being eligible to participate in the event. (5) Safety Notice: When participating in or watching the Triathlon race, there is inherent risk of severe injury or major accidents, and athletes must willingly accept these risks. Due to limitations in medical examinations, it is not possible to completely eliminate potential health risks. Furthermore, the variability of individual physical conditions means that passing the screening process does not guarantee the ability to safely complete the race. Athletes must constantly monitor their own physical condition and, if experiencing acute illnesses such as cold or fever before the race, should proactively withdraw from the competition. If during the race, symptoms such as chest tightness, chest pain, palpitations, nausea, difficulty breathing, or excessive fatigue occur, athletes should immediately stop the race and seek assistance from the nearest medical station or event staff. 2. X-Triathlon athletes who have completed a Triathlon with a distance of 2 times or more the standard distance (a total distance of 103km or more) or who are able to complete the standard distance Triathlon within 3 hours, both domestic and international athletes and enthusiasts, are eligible to register. For athletes under 18 years old or over 60 years old, they must either have a certificate of completion for X-Triathlon or sign a participation declaration and receive approval from the organizing committee after review. 3. X-Triathlon Sprint and X-Triathlon Fun (1) Domestic and international athletes who wish to participate in the X-Triathlon Sprint category must have prior Triathlon race experience (proof of previous race completion). For athletes under 18 years old or over 60 years old (including 60 years old), they must have prior Triathlon race experience in the standard distance category (51.5km) (proof of previous race completion). (2) Both domestic and international athletes and enthusiasts are eligible to register for the X-Triathlon Fun category. 4. X-Triathlon Relay Athletes responsible for the swimming segment must provide a valid deep-water certification. Athletes without a valid deep-water certification must undergo a swimming ability test at the race venue and pass the test to be eligible to participate. However, athletes who hold a Triathlon amateur athlete technical level certificate or have valid performance records in Triathlon or swimming competitions within the past three years are not required to provide a deep-water certification. 5.X-Triathlon Aquathlon Athletes must provide a valid deep-water certification. Athletes without a valid deep-water certification must undergo a swimming ability test for Triathlon at the race venue and pass the test to be eligible to participate. However, athletes who hold a Triathlon amateur athlete technical level certificate or have valid performance records in Triathlon or swimming competitions within the past three years are not required to provide a deep-water certification. Ⅶ. Competition Regulations 1. Competition Rules (1) The latest version of the “ITU Competition Rules” and the “CTSA Code of Conduct and Penalty Guidelines” shall be followed. (2) For all competition categories, athletes who exceed the overall cut-off time will be disqualified. 2. Equipment, Clothing, and Gear (1) Athletes must bring their own bicycles, clothing, helmets, and other equipment, complying with the relevant regulations of the competition rules. (2) Athletes’ race attire must adhere to the regulations outlined in the latest version of the “CTSA Athlete Race Attire and Equipment Guidelines.” (3) Athletes may use mountain bikes or flat handlebar bicycles, but they must pass the inspection conducted by the organizing committee to ensure compliance with safety regulations. (4) Athletes are allowed to use “swimming safety buoy (inflatable device)” during the race. The safety buoy should be connected to the body by a rope or cable with a minimum length of 40 centimeters. It should not be directly attached to the body. (5) The inspection of athletes’ race attire and equipment will be conducted during the check-in and entry into the transition area on the race day. There will be no separate inspections before the race. If athletes are unsure whether their race attire and equipment comply with the competition rules, they can submit them to the technical officials for inspection after the pre-race technical meeting. 3. Cut-off Time
Note: After the total cut-off time, the referees will decide on a case-by-case basis whether to allow athletes to continue the race. Athletes who complete the race outside of the total cut-off time, even if they have a high ranking in their respective competition category, will not be awarded official rankings or receive prize money. 4. Scoring Method Individual members and independent individual members registered with the China Triathlon Sports Association who participate in the X-Triathlon, X-Triathlon Sprint, and X-Triathlon Fun categories and achieve valid results will receive personal points. The individual champion of X-Triathlon will receive 1800 personal points, X-Triathlon Sprint individual champions will receive 900 personal points, and X-Triathlon Fun individual champions will receive 450 personal points. Group members registered with the China Triathlon Sports Association who participate in the X-Triathlon, X-Triathlon Sprint, and X-Triathlon Fun categories and achieve valid group results will receive group scoring points. The group champion of X-Triathlon will receive 3000 group points, X-Triathlon Sprint group champion will receive 1500 group points, and X-Triathlon Fun group champion will receive 750 group points. If a team member registered with the China Triathlon Sports Association participates in the X-Triathlon, X-Triathlon Sprint, and X-Triathlon Fun categories, each registered athlete who achieves a valid result will earn points for the team. For men athletes, each registered athlete will earn 20 points, and for women athletes, each registered athlete will earn 50 points. If a registered athlete fails to participate in the competition despite being registered under the team member, 20 points will be deducted for each athlete until the team’s score reaches zero. However, if the cancellation of registration occurs more than 7 days before the competition, the team will be exempted from the deduction of these points. 5. The management of race conduct and discipline The management of race conduct and discipline will be governed by the “Regulations on Race Conduct and Discipline Management of the China Triathlon Sports Association” (please refer to the “Rules and Regulations” section on the official CTSA website for details). 6. ArbitrationIn the event of any disputes that arise during the competition, athletes have the option to apply for arbitration through the China Sports Arbitration Commission in accordance with the law.7. Force Majeure In the event that the competition cannot proceed smoothly due to uncontrollable factors such as strong winds, earthquakes, public health emergencies, the organizing committee may temporarily adjust the competition time and events, or even cancel the competition, in the interest of safety. In such cases, no refunds will be provided, and the organizing committee will not be held liable for any legal responsibilities. Ⅷ. Referees (Technical Officials) The core referees will be selected by CTSA, while assistant referees will be selected by the organizing committee. Ⅸ. Awards System 1. X-Triathlon (9 groups in total)
(1) X-Triathlon Ranking Awards: The total prize money for the rankings is 343,800 CNY (pre-tax). The top 16 athletes in each will receive cash prizes (top 3 will also receive trophies). If there are fewer than 18 athletes in a category, the number of awarded rankings will be reduced by 3. (2) Overall Record Awards: The total prize money for breaking the overall records in 2023 is 300,000 CNY (pre-tax). In the Men’s category, 100,000 CNY will be allocated, while in the Women's category, 200,000 CNY will be allocated (as the Women’s record was not broken in 2018, 10,000 CNY will be accumulated from that year, and the swimming segment was canceled in 2019 due to force majeure). Athletes who break the Men’s overall record in any of the 5 s will share the Men’s overall record bonus, and the best performance will become the new record. Similarly, athletes who break the Women’s overall record in any of the 4 s will share the Women’s overall record bonus, and the best performance will become the new record. If no records are broken in the current year, the record bonus will accumulate and be awarded in the 2024 record category. (3) The Men Record of X-Triathlon is 5 hrs 24’52’’. The Women Record of X-Triathlon is 6 hrs28’05’’. 2. X-Triathlon Sprint and X-Triathlon Fun X-Triathlon Sprint and X-Triathlon Fun: The top 3 athletes in each group of X-Triathlon Sprint and X-Triathlon Fun will receive trophies and cash prizes. The top 8 athletes will receive cash prizes (pre-tax total prize money is 165,700 CNY). Prize Money allocation:
Supplementary Explanation of Prize Distribution: When the number of athletes in a single group is between 8 and 12, the top 6 athletes will receive cash prizes. When the number of athletes is between 4 and 8, the top 3 athletes will receive cash prizes. If there are fewer than 3 athletes in a single group, the number of prize recipients will be reduced by 1. If there is only 1 athlete in a single group, their performance will be merged with the previous lower for prize allocation. 3.X-Triathlon Relay In the X-Triathlon Relay category, the top 3 teams will receive trophies and cash prizes, and the top 8 teams will receive cash prizes (pre-tax total of 11,700 CNY).
5. Other Matters (1) All athletes who achieve a valid finish in their respective categories will receive a commemorative finisher medal. (2) The finisher certificates will be distributed at the on-site member service area of the main venue. The annual finisher certificate will serve as an important qualification for future registrations in Weihai Triathlon. athletes can also check their results on the official website of Weihai Sports Bureau (http://tyj.weihai.gov.cn/) and the official WeChat account of Weihai Sports (whtyxx). (3) The prize money will be distributed by the Weihai Sports Bureau through bank transfer after the race. Winners are advised to prepare their name, bank account information, phone number, and other necessary details for the payment. Ⅹ.Entry Fees 1. Entry Fees(CNY)
CTSA registered individual members and independent individual members are eligible for “CTSA registered individual member entry fee discount”. 2. Payment Methods for Entry Fees (1) Online payment methods such as WeChat Pay, Alipay, and online banking are accepted. After completing the registration, athletes need to pay the entry fee and wait for the registration to be approved. Once the registration is approved, it is considered successful. (2) If athletes are unable to make online payment for registration, they can contact the registration contact person to arrange alternative payment methods. (3) Refund Policy for Entry Fees X-Triathlon Sprint, X-Triathlon Fun: If you withdraw from the race before July 20th, 50% of the registration fee will be refunded. The refund will be subject to a handling fee borne by the applicant. No refunds will be provided for withdrawals after July 20th. X-Triathlon (including Relay) & X-Triathlon Aquathlon: Once registered and the payment is made, the registration fee is non-refundable. XI. Registration 1. Ways of Registration Access the CTSA member information system and click on “Event Information” - select the event - click on “Event Registration”. Website: http://triathlon.basts.com.cn/. (1) Individual members need to be registered by their affiliated group members through the CTSA member information system. (2) Free individual members need to register themselves through the CTSA member information system. Username: the valid ID number used during registration; Password: the last 6 digits of the valid ID number used during registration. Please change the password after the first login and remember it. (3) Non-CTSA registered individual members need to submit registration materials to the registration contact person (see below for registration contact and materials). 2. Documents required (1) Registration form (Attachment 1). (2) Scanned copy or photo of a valid personal identification document. (3) Triathlon Swimming Ability Test proof material (the Triathlon/swimming competition Certificate or deep-water certificate). If the athletes do not have such materials, they can participate the competition with the qualified test result. If unqualified, then he/she will not be allowed to participate. (4) Proof of successfully completing a Triathlon race with a distance of at least two times the standard distance for X-Triathlon. 5.“Guardian Declaration for Minor Athletes”or the “Declaration for Athletes’ Spouse/ Children aged 70 and above” (Attachment 3, required for athletes under 18 years old or aged 70 and above). 6. Body Check Report (Attachment 2, provide in accordance with the guidelines); (7) Insurance Certificate Materials (can be handled on site). Please contact the registration contact for help if online registration does not work. 3. Deadline and number of applicants (1) The registration system will be open from June 28th, and the deadline for registration is July 27th. The payment should be made before 17:00 on July 28th. Athletes are required to submit their registration materials from the opening date of registration until July 27th and undergo the verification process by the organizing committee. Once the registration is approved, the registration fee must be paid by 17:00 on July 28th at the latest. (2) The X-Triathlon group, X-Triathlon Sprint group, X-Triathlon Fun group, and X-Triathlon Aquathlon have a total participant limit of 1600 individuals. The X-Triathlon Relay is limited to 50 teams. (3) The registration will be successful with the completion of application approval and payment. (4) The start list will be announced 7 days before the race. 4. The items and result of the body check should be in accordance with the “Athletes Body Check Guidance” (Attachment 2), or else, the participation in the competition shall be forbidden. Note: The Body Check results approval mentioned above is only the minimum qualification for participation. Passing the approval does not mean that athletes can manage to complete the competition. Athletes should make judgment and decision according to their own physical conditions and be responsible for their own safety. (4) All athletes must sign the ITU Athletes’ Agreement (Attachment 3) at the time of check-in. XIII. Accommodation 1. Accommodation & Reservation Official hotels and accommodation at a competitive price will be offered by the Organizing Committee. It lasts from 09:00 on 20th Aug to 12:00 on 28th Aug. Please refer to Accommodation Information (Attachment 5). Athletes should book hotels either by themselves or contact the LOC for assistance. The interpretation of these regulations is the responsibility of the Weihai Major Sport Events Organizing Committee.
